Estimate deployment cost for edge AI systems
Estimate total infrastructure cost for edge AI camera deployments. Configure accelerator, module count, storage, power, and networking to get an itemised bill of materials with cost per camera and annual energy cost.

What this calculator estimates
This tool provides a planning-grade bill of materials for the infrastructure layer of edge AI deployments. It covers:
- Compute: accelerator module(s), carrier board (Jetson only)
- Storage: local NVMe or SD card per node
- Networking: PoE switch, uplink hardware
- Power: PSU, UPS (optional)
- Enclosure & accessories: mounting, cooling, cabling
Not included by design: Camera hardware (see note below), software licenses, cloud costs, installation labour, or host system costs for Coral/Hailo configurations.
Camera hardware not included. Typical PoE IP cameras range from $80–$200/unit depending on resolution (1080p vs 4K), housing type (standard vs compact), and vendor. This estimate is US market, Q1 2025, single-unit quantities. Actual cost varies by supplier, volume discounts, and region.
For a more comprehensive deployment analysis including detailed performance benchmarks and step-by-step sizing across all subsystems, use the Full Deployment Planner.
How costs scale with camera count
The table below shows how total BOM cost and cost per camera change as you add cameras to a standard configuration (Jetson Orin Nano Super, 4 streams/module, 1 module/node, NVMe 256GB, PoE af unmanaged switch, desktop PSU, no UPS or enclosure). Verify these values match the calculator output for this configuration:
| Cameras | Nodes | Total BOM | Cost/Camera |
